Continuities

Janine Jembere and Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński bring together three filmic positions reflecting the effects of a so-called “past” onto the present. Sometimes It Was Beautiful by Christian Nyampeta stages negotiations of colonial ethics and aesthetics. In No Archive Can Hold You, Onyeka Igwe follows the material world to ask what was, what is, and what could be. Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński’s The Letter allows us to witness an act of resisting the hold of the archive across timelines. Resonating with the film's commitment to sound, Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński and Janine Jembere will respond to the works with music.

Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński, writer and artist. Lives in Vienna. Her first institutional solo exhibition will be on show from October 21, 2021, at Kunsthalle Vienna.
