T like Television
Three films look at television as a location of the production and distribution of the film essay. The belief in the progressive potential of cable television channels, which were established around 1970 in many places in the USA, was connected to specific expectations. This new transmission technology was said to bring about nothing less than a revolution in communication and public life. This led to an affirmative openness toward unconventional program design and facilitated free spaces that were also utilized by video artists, activists, and collectives.
