FemArtTech: Art, Code & Empowerment
By offering dedicated coding courses for women and girls only, we aim to overcome the barriers that prevent young women from pursuing education and careers in STEM. These courses follow our Creative Learning approach. We use STEAM-based methods, offer holistic art analysis and have female role models as course leaders. Our aim is to teach coding skills, media literacy and an understanding of artificial intelligence to help tackle the gender gap.
During the course, artworks from the mumok collection are examined in relation to the digital reality of 21st century life, and the participants' personal interpretations—adapted to their previous knowledge—are processed in the programming languages Scratch or Processing.
The courses provide a solid foundation for advanced media skills and digital confidence, and take the first steps towards computer programming. They will also gain an insight into the working methods of digital humanities and be able to work creatively with complex algorithms and programming principles.
The courses are organised in cooperation with our long-standing partner NACHBARINNEN in Vienna.
Aim of the project
The aim is to empower participants in the use of digital tools and media and to see and use digital technologies as a lasting tool in their lives. The hybrid information society of the future can only be viable and future-oriented if the transfer of knowledge is considered on an equal footing and based on intensive relationship work. The course lasts one semester to enable sustainable learning.
Every Tuesday, 4 pm to 7 pm
Register by emailing kunstvermittlung@mumok.at.
Courses will be held in German.
