The sequences "Fliegender Teppich" (Flying Carpet), "Freizeit" (Leisure)," "Holterdipolter I, II" (Topsy Turvy I, II), and "Flugversuch" (Flight Attempt) from the large photo series called "Ödipale Komplikationen?" (Oedipal Complications?) are relatively early works by Anna & Bernhard Blume. During a visit at the artist’s mother Maria Blume these pictures arised from ‘quasi-incestious turbulences’ through which not only the outer but also the inner relations got a little confused. Already in this early large format b&w photo series section, blurring, under or over exposure, typical for armature photography, create a bizarre and oppressive atmosphere, which are the aesthetic trademark also of the later large photo series of the artist’s couple.
