Why picture now/Fotografie, Film, Video, heute Mens verhaal van een wonde |
The video reflects relations between a second-generation migrant and her mother, and a notion of home that has become doubtful. “Silent Sight” shows only the eyes of a (veiled) woman, while a woman’s voice reflects from the perspective of the daughter on closeness, security, fear of loss, and direct experience of cultural difference. In this piece, Zineb Sedira, who in other works has dealt directly with the Franco-Algerian war and its consequences, focuses attention on aesthetic and emotional aspects of the same story.
