Nachlass Kurt Kren

Kurt Kren, the internationally known filmmaker from Austria, left his films and his private archive to the Republic of Austria. Since 2018, mumok has looked after the archival part of the estate, which consists of several thousand individual items. It includes books, VHS tapes, diaries and calendars, documents such as invoices, contracts and agreements, extensive correspondence, notebooks and drafts for his films, title pages that he filmed for his films, advertising material for events as well as posters and flyers and individual items such as Krens leather jacket. Parts of his artistic work can also be found in the estate. In addition to numerous as yet little explored photographs, the scores of his films manifest a thematic focus. The drawings, formulas and diagrams he designed show the concept and structure of his films in an aesthetic way.

The complete inventory and digitization of the archive are nearing completion.
