Edition Detail

The edition by Anna-Sophie Berger refers to the work Pea earring (2015) from the exhibition Places to fight and to make up (2016/2017): 

It consists of an earring made from a dried pea seed in a claw-like silver mount. On the one hand, this earring represents a personal piece of jewelry; on the other hand, it questions the use of the seed in the nutritional process of our post-industrial society. The process of nurturing is, as Berger phrases it, »an intimate and sensual one, which collides with the political dimension of our diet and its effect on the environment.« The seed is completely intact and securely stored until its use. Its low commercial value is in strong contrast to the value of the silver. The artist highlights the potentials of the object by focusing on its capacity to give life and provide food.
