The American-Belgian artist Cécile B. Evans explores the meaning and role of emotions in contemporary societies and engages with the increasing influence of new technologies on our feelings and actions. The edition titled Character Posters: Amos' World consists of a series of three Plexiglas boxes, each containing a film poster. Three key characters from the video work AMOS' WORLD are depicted: the architect Amos, the actress Gloria, and the famous Weizenbaum secretary. Following the format of a traditional film poster, information such as festival quotes or technical details are replaced with quotes from the film script written by the artist. By encasing the posters in Plexiglas boxes, the poster becomes an object, approaching a sort of data block.
Cécile B. Evans (*1983) lives and works in London. The edition is released on the occasion of her solo exhibition Cécile B. Evans. AMOS' WORLD: Episode One.
