Edition Detail

The edition consists of five stuffed animals that were immersed in a petrifying spring at Jardin des Fontaines Pétrifiantes (La Sône, France), where they were washed over by mineral-rich water. The water from this spring contains numerous minerals, especially calcium from the local limestone. As the water evaporates, a layer of calcium carbonate gradually forms. Over time, objects suspended in the water develop a stone-like surface.
