The Floor is Yours
three museums striving for new perspectives and digital inclusion
The project The Floor is Yours is a two-year public program resulting from the collaboration between Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam (lead partner), Mart, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto and mumok – Museum Moderner Kunst, Stiftung Ludwig, Vienna.
The title The Floor is Yours represents a stance: the museums in the network offer the floor to the public, fostering new perspectives on the museum and pursuing real social inclusion. What we want to create is a reversal of perspective: different audiences are not simply invited to come to the museum to experience its narratives, but are involved in the creation of new stories. The objectives of the project are therefore to experiment with new processes of collaboration with some of the social actors in the area and to build a network capable of fostering the dissemination of good practices.
The women and young people who are part of NACHBARINNEN will be involved in the planning of activities aimed at young audiences and will participate in a week-long residency designed to stimulate exchange and comparison between the three museums. Mumok will send the participants to a residence to MART in Rovereto, Italy and will host the residency of the Boijmans Van Beuningen museum in Vienna. The Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, on the other hand, will host the residency of the partner group of the MART. At the end of the two-year period, a concluding seminar will be organised by the Rotterdam museum, the European project leader, with the aim of sharing the results with a wider public.
The project is made possible thanks to the contribution of Creative Europe, the European support programme for the cultural and creative sectors 2021-2027.
The project is funded by the European Union. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the authors only and do not necessarily reflect those of European Union. Neither the European Union nor the granting authority can be held responsible for them.
