Green Events

Green Events

Since June 2024, we have been certified according to the UZ62 guideline of the state quality seal and are allowed to hold green meetings and green events in our locations.

With this in mind, we ensure that both our internal and external events are sustainable and environmentally friendly. In doing so, we pay attention to reducing emissions, resources, and waste as well as using regional and biological products.

The mumok is your professional partner for when you as an agent are planning your green event or want to organize your private or professional events in terms of sustainability.

Victoria Mascha is your contact person for all questions surrounding the topic of Green Meetings and Green Events.

We would appreciate your support in our efforts to uphold a sustainable future!

Acoustic sensitivity varies from person to person. mumok provides free ear plugs upon request at the cloakroom.

Our printed material is produced according to the criteria set by the Austrian Ecolabel for Green Events. In this, we partner with the following environmentally certified print shops:

  • Gerin Druck GmbH
  • Print Alliance HAV Productions GmbH
  • Jork Printmanagement GmbH

In order to conserve resources, we pay attention to keeping the print run of our publications as small as possible.

Exhibition folders, program booklets, and maps that are no longer needed are collected from museum visitors at the exit and distributed again. At the closing of each exhibition, where possible, advertising pamphlets and folders are upcycled and recycled into new products and are used in our store, among other places.

Sustainability concerns all of us. The mumok considers itself an institution that is obligated to working towards a sustainable future and contributing to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We particularly focus on urgent measures for climate protection and promoting high-quality, equitable education.

Making art and culture more easily accessible to everyone is a central part of mumok’s educational mission. We’re also aware that not everyone has the same access to education, art, and the realted advantages. The mumok team is committed to changing this through our continued efforts and through dismantling the structures within our own organization that perpetuate this inequality.

You’ll find our funding projects here.

Upcycling of mumok printed materials.

We produce bags in various sizes out of our façade banners from past exhibitions in collaboration with Wörkerei Caritas. Earrings have, for instance, been made out of our old program booklets, which we also sell in our mumok shop.

Through this, the mumok helps to create jobs and to use our resources sustainably.

Find more information on our project with the Wörkerei here.

In collaboration with the Viennese bookbindery Papyrus, mumok notebooks are made from paper and fabric scraps left over from the production of our exhibition catalogues. These notebooks are available in the mumok shop.

papplab Exhibition Architecture

The company papplab produced the exhibition architecture for the exhibition Elisabeth Wild. Imagination Factory. Cardboard was used for the architecture, which, as a renewable raw material, is completely recyclable. On the final day of the exhibition, in conjunction with papplab, photo frames were produced from the exhibition walls, which visitors were able to take home with them, thus creating a part of mumok for the home.
