Sustainability
Sustainability concerns all of us.
As an institution mumok believes it has a duty to champion a sustainable future and play its part in achieving sustainable development targets set by the United Nations. Its focus is chiefly on urgent measures to protect the climate and on the promotion of high-quality, equitable education.
Ever since its founding, mumok has followed a specific mandate in matters of educational policy currently based on four central pillars: education in digital skills as a tool for the future; the inclusion and empowerment of people from all backgrounds; combating barriers to participation at various levels; and the sustainable transfer of knowledge. As part of the education and exhibitions program, current sociopolitical topics are taken up and put forward for discussion.
In recent years mumok has taken great care to set in motion climate protection measures and to reduce the ecological footprint of the museum. As part of a comprehensive action plan, its use of resources is being optimized and a sustainable acquisition policy expedited.
For mumok, sustainability is a continual process which will be pursued with the greatest commitment now and in the future.
mumok would like to encourage all visitors to travel here using public transport. Due to its central location in Vienna’s MuseumsQuartier, this is easily done using the Wiener Linien operator.
In order to make art accessible to everyone, barrier-free access is of great importance to us here at mumok. Visitors to mumok with specific needs receive discounts, and persons accompanying them receive free entry. Easy access to the exhibition and events spaces is provided via elevators and stair lifts. Read more on barrier-free access here.
